When I take a wooden figure with my hands, I look at that, I turn it and I look in detail at the figure: I feel it.
The figure talks to me, somebody wants to be born from this figure. Sometimes I see some contours in wood-grain, sometimes I see a beard, woman hair or a child's face. Sometimes the wood and I communicate very quickly and I begin to draw away. This process is very nice and makes my very happy. sometimes we don't understand each other, then I leave the piece on the shelf for a while until I get the proper idea, this gives me eager to start drawing immediately.
At the moment I paint russian dolls and roly-poly toys, toys for children after all. I love everything about children, this is way those who are engaged in making toys inspire me, especially from old times.
The rounded shape of the roly-poly toy, reminds me some nuns of the 19th century. I have much sympathy for them. They were knitting ecclesiastical clothes, and with cuts they produced toys. The most popular toy were cloth ball with a box of bark wood inside that did as rattle.
